Whats New at Harkness Design Group

Meridian Condominiums Lobby Renovation

Building residents were looking to upgrade their original 80's style lobby and Balcony to something more sophisticated and fresh, yet timeless. While the original wood elements and chandelier will remain, a new fireplace, entry doors, concierge desk, finishes, lighting and furniture will create an energetic gathering place for current and future residents as well as guests.

Hyde Park Golf & Country Club

This country club was looking to completely renovate their old bar which functioned primarily as a service bar to a more inviting space that could also provide ample storage for the members' growing wine collection. Key client goals were to blend with the club's existing color palette, provide coordinated furniture that would be at home in any room it was moved to depending on the daily use, and to create an inviting bar that members would enjoy as a destination within the club.

Hyde Park Golf & Country Club

Concept rendering for the club's ballroom featuring a neutral palette for maximum flexibility to accommodate weddings and other colorful events.

Class A Office Building, Public Spaces Renovation

Concept renderings for a complete makeover of the Elevator Lobby, Elevator Cabs, & Public Restrooms at a confidential office building location. Also included in this overhaul is the creation of a new cafe/casual meeting area as well as a new Fitness Center. The main goal is to create spaces that appeal to multiple generations as well as international visitors and employees which  would create an energetic atmosphere and invite interaction immediately upon entering the building's two-story entry. Ongoing project.

Rumpke Headquarters

This 3rd generation family owned business has grown from a small pig farm to a large company extending over several states focusing on refuse and recycling. As they've grown, they have acquired small houses near the landfill and turned them into offices, thereby spreading employees all over the area. In 2019 they are opening a brand new 3-story corporate headquarters to house over 150 staff under one roof with the  goal of focusing on their roots, their family-like atmosphere, their community, and their impact on the environment! Images shown are progress photos during construction.

China Children's Hospital

Concept renderings for 500,000 s.f. conversion/renovation of a Women's hospital into a Children's hospital.  This heavily themed design revolves around the art and graphics of Charley Harper, who's graphic style is simple enough to appeal to children, yet sophisticated enough to apply to all elements of design from floor and wall coverings to lighting and way finding.  A few design highlights include a custom 4-story bird mobile in the South Atrium, a 4-season leaf mobile in the North Atrium, larger than life animal topiaries, and a terrazzo "river" featuring colorful aquatic creatures flowing through the lobby.

Coldstream Country Club

This premier country club was looking to update and expand its bar area to create a more youthful destination for its members that also doubled as a casual dining venue.  The current clubhouse originated as a horse barn, so members were looking to return to these rustic roots by tastefully blending the barn aesthetic with today's casual sophistication. The resulting design is as welcoming to formally dressed dinner guests as casually attired swimmers and golfers looking to catch a sporting event on tv while enjoying a few adult beverages! Members say they now choose this bar as a destination enjoying the casual vibe. Kitchen staff enjoy the influx of diners of all ages. The club has even done away with food minimums due to the bar's popularity!

Testerman Dental

This third generation dental group embarked on a total renovation of their practice in Lebanon, Ohio.  New custom designed lower height partitions and privacy screens within the Operatories, new millwork throughout, floor plan revisions, complete cosmetic makeover including all new furniture and finishes.

Butler Technology and Career Development School

This school is a new concept in High Scool vocational education and therefore required a fresh persepective on furnitue and finish selections. HDG was brought in as MSP's Interior Design consultant specifically due to experience with Higher Eduction furniture and finishes. As students will graduate with a degree that allows them to proceed directly into selected profession, it was important that the design aesthetic provde a  collegiate and professional atmosphere yet still embrace the youthful need for intense collaboration and creative thinking.  Additionally, all materials needed to appear engaging and high-end, yet provide maximum durability and ease of maintenance.
